ARTS 310 "Typography 2" builds upon the study of prefabricated letters in Typography 1 and more fully explores typeface design, typesetting, grid systems, and text as user interface layouts. Projects will encompass a variety of graphic design modalities, requiring students to explore interaction of text, image, form and color within a system design framework. The systematic aspects of fonts and text will be explored through software implementations and a series of directed projects to gain knowledge in the area of typesetting for both print and the screen. Offered Fall and Spring semesters. Prerequisites: 210, 300, 305. Note: A fee of $95 is associated with this course.
