Catalog description
ARTS 300 Typography 1 is an introduction to the fundamentals of typography and type design as a critical skill to graphic communication with a focus on writing with prefabricated letters. Students will be introduced to constructing page architectures within typographic space. The functional and expressive aspects of type and text will be explored through its basic history and terminology and a series of directed projects to gain knowledge in the area of type anatomy and selection, legibility, paragraph shaping and styling to effectively design with type. Prerequisite: ARTS 210. Class is offered regularly.
