Catalog description

In this introductory-level class, students will acquire foundational creative skills in perception, critical thinking, and material exploration as they relate to expanded art and design practice. Emphasis will be placed on activities that intensify comprehension of form, movement, tonal values, color, space, composition, and mark-making. Lectures, presentations, readings, and studio assignments will introduce a range of historical, contemporary, and cultural models that aid students in developing a syntax for their creative process. Offered regularly.
