This seminar-style course examines, through an anthropological lens, current trends and issues in health and well-being that are inherently global in nature: they transcend geographic boundaries and differences in wealth and industrialization. Topics may include maternal and child health, emerging infectious diseases, nutrition, and the rise of chronic disease. Global health is an inherently transdisciplinary field; this course views topics in global health from an anthropological perspective and situates anthropology among other disciplines, including public health and biomedicine, in efforts to understand disease and improve health.
