This advanced undergraduate seminar explores how and why sex and gender as power relationships might influence conflict processes, and whether sex- and gender-based differences in conflict actors' behavior are more real than they are apparent (or vice versa). In the process, students will address a broad assortment of general topics in contemporary political violence, including: terrorism, civil war, humanitarian aid, state repression, civil-military relations and foreign policy decision-making.
