This course offers an introduction to the diversity and distinctiveness of Chinese culture through the lenses of history, geography, language, literature, religion, arts, and social institutions, with a focus on modern and contemporary contexts. Students will explore recent social, economic, and cultural developments in China while situating them within longer historical and cultural traditions. The course emphasizes hands-on learning through project-based assignments, allowing students to engage directly with cultural materials, media, and real-world case studies. Taught in English. Offered every two years in fall.
