Catalog description

A special course developed to afford learning experiences beyond courses in the curriculum. Topics for the course require approval of the Academic Dean. NUR 491 Nursing Care of Older Adults (2 Credit Hours) This course prepares the student as a generalist for entry level practice in nursing care of older adults. It will focus on nursing and aging theories, body systems’ age-related changes, assessment skills and tools, ethical, cultural, pharmacological and nutritional considerations in the elderly population. In addition, this course will address application of the nursing process and the use of critical thinking skills in caring for the aged client. Various care settings and gerontological resources will be explored.
