Catalog description

An introduction to the art of songwriting. Grow in one's songcraft and explore how a song can touch the soul. Gain a better understanding of the anatomy of a song by breaking down its elements: theme, melody, harmonic structure, feel, time, lyric, rhythm, instrumentation, collaboration, improvisation, and performance. Offered: Fall, Occasionally January, Spring. Special Notes: This course does not require any formal music background. This course includes a scheduled classroom time as well as an evening lab.
