Interrelationship of social problems, social welfare policies, and service delivery. Examines social and political movements that have shaped social activism. Evaluates significant turning points and their legacies in order to appreciate the linkages and contexts that interconnect social welfare reform efforts. Identifies strengths and weaknesses of the American welfare state. Prerequisites: SOW 210Z ; SOW 180 ; POS 100 (may be taken concurrently, or with instructor approval). Offered: Spring.
