Catalog description

This course is an introduction to the techniques and aesthetic considerations of painting. The thread of study is two-fold: a. traditional oil painting: formal, academic study of structure, spatial relationships, value, composition, color, temperature, and texture; b. contemporary: unique, creative expression in oil and/or other media in pursuit of contemporary approaches grounded in sound design and concept. In both threads, student painting may include portraiture/life model, still life, interiors/exteriors, landscapes, and/or non-objective.
