Belmont University · UGRD · Fall 2026
1 section
Catalog description
Students will study and apply advanced screen acting techniques and create on-camera performances in various styles and genres of both film and television (e.g., science fiction, drama, comedy, commercials, et al.). Students will learn to strip away theatrical mannerisms in order to temper their performance for the camera through the playback of recorded performances and objective feedback. Particular focus is placed on material that calls for simplicity and emotional connection in matters of period, style and advanced technical challenges in acting in front of the camera. The course culminates in a 90-second reel.
