Race-Based Trauma

Catalog description

A study of the definition, concepts, and mental health consequences of race-based trauma. We will also examine policies and apply assessment techniques to understand whether the policies are racist, race-conscious, or race neutral. A central theme of the course is exploring roles of “advocate” and “ally” as students begin to understand what it means to engage in race-based, trauma-informed social work practices.
