Catalog description
Emphasis will be placed on the latest evidence based practices, preventative care, and patient education to improve outcomes in diverse poulations. Content includes nursing care and considerations during puberty, menopause, preconception, antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn transition periods. Students will learn about the normal anatomical, physiological, and psychological changes and the most common complications in each of these stages. Attention will be given to the concepts of sexuality and reproduction, growth and development, cellular regulation, perfusion, infection, metabolism, and hormonal regulation and inquiry as they relate to maternal and infant nursing.
