Catalog description
An introduction to the nervous system and brain, emphasizing an understanding of neurological concepts from cell to system levels. After being introduced to the functional units of the nervous system and neuroanatomy, students will engage with complex topics like brain development, psychopharmacology, biological mechanisms underlying day-to-day abilities and neurological deficits. Applications of concepts to humans will be highlighted. Three hours lecture per week. This course counts as a Degree cognate science option (non-lab). Considerations: This course does not count towards the neuroscience major or minor. Also, students may enroll for either this course (3 credits) OR Fundamental Neuroscience (4 credits), not both.
