Examples of campus beats include student housing, Greek life, faculty senate, etc. Students monitor their beat, generate and pitch story ideas, hone story angles, develop interviewing techniques, find sources, and write news and feature articles. The course encourages journalistic independence, newsroom teamwork, and overall professionalism while preparing students for real-world journalism roles.
