Catalog description

Foundations Studio is the first course in the interior design studio sequence. Students learn and apply foundational design language, elements and principles of design, ordering systems, and spatial relationships through conceptual projects that explore both 2D and 3D design. Emphasis is placed on developing a shared vocabulary for communicating design intent across disciplines, using diagramming and iterative exploration to support critical and systems thinking. Students also study culturally and regionally diverse precedents, including local vernacular traditions, to broaden their references and inform their design approaches. Cross Listed with ARC 1003
