Catalog description

This course provides an introduction to the interdisciplinary field of Gender Studies. The course will explore critical questions related to sex, gender, sexuality, particularly in relation to other intersectional aspects of identity such as religion, class, race, and ability. Students will learn key concepts and terminology and will examine foundational theorists and theories of Gender Studies. By the end of the course, students will have developed tools to effectively analyze the ways in which social, cultural, and biological categories shape and impact our lives as gendered individuals. This course serves as the introductory course for the Gender Studies minor, but it is open to all students and will fulfill a BELL Core Social Science credit.
