Residency II

Catalog description

Residency II builds upon the foundational counseling skills developed earlier in the program and prepares students for the expectations of Practicum and Internship. Students will practice both basic and advanced counseling skills and will receive formative and summative feedback to support their continued development. The residency includes an introduction to the purposes and roles of clinical supervision and explores the use of technology within counseling and supervision settings. Instruction focuses on crisis-assessing and responding to risks such as aggression, danger to others, self-inflicted harm, and suicide. Students also learn to identify signs of abuse and neglect and understand mandated reporting responsibilities. Through applied instruction, case examples, and guided practice, students strengthen their readiness for supervised clinical practice.
