Mental Health Nursing

Catalog description

The focus of this course is on the theory and practice of psychiatric mental nursing. The clinical judgement model, therapeutic communication, compassionate care, and development of healthy relationships will be applied to individuals across the life span to promote better understanding of mental health disease and well-being. Areas of focus will include major psychiatric disorders, personality, gender dysphoria & sexuality, and victims of violence and abuse. Spheres of care will include health promotion, chronic disease, and restorative/regenerative nursing care. (3 class hrs. per week, 45 clinical hrs. per session)
