Catalog description

This course is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals and core functions of public health via the study and the practice of community wellness in an equitable and just manner. To foster a deeper understanding of and appreciation for social determinants of health, students will learn about the theory and practice of systems thinking to better understand and more effectively address the root causes of complex social issues and concerns. Evidence-based strategies and ecological approaches to improve population health will be regularly reviewed and discussed with a strong focus on community engagement and advocacy, especially as it relates to promoting and supporting active living environments.
