Catalog description

This course explores how emerging media technologies and artificial intelligence are transforming communication practices, institutions, and cultures. We will examine new media systems such as algorithmic curation, generative AI, chatbots, virtual and augmented reality, and other emerging platforms, and their implications for meaning-making, power, creativity, and public discourse. Students develop the ability to analyze emerging media technologies, their effects, and anticipate future developments and impacts.
