Catalog description

This course examines essentials of communication law. Topics covered include issues related to the First Amendment, the limits of freedom of speech with regard to the press and new technologies, freedom of expression, Freedom of Information Act, copyright, broadcast regulation, invasion of privacy, libel, defamation, protection of sources, free press/fair trial, cameras in the courtroom, lotteries, and antitrust. This course will benefit those planning careers in law, journalism, advertising, public relations, and related fields.
