Keyboard Practicum in Band

Catalog description

Prerequisite(s): Permission to enroll from Director of Collaborative Piano and Ensemble Director is required. This course gives graduate students an opportunity to gain practical experience working as a collaborative pianist with Symphonic Band (MUEN 1103) or Wind Ensemble (MUEN 1108). Collaborative skills of balance, ensemble, time management, and shared musical leadership are emphasized. Study methods specific to preparation of repertoire along with rehearsal techniques in a large ensemble are developed by playing in the rehearsals and performances under the instruction of the ensemble director.
