This introductory course explores the fundamental principles and dynamics of marriage and family systems with attention to roles, responsibilities, and relational patterns within intimate relationships and family structures. Grounded in general systems theory and its cybernetic roots, the course introduces core systems concepts and terminology that inform systemic conceptualization. Emphasis is placed on integrating systems theory into family theory and clinical practice. An in-depth overview of the roles, responsibilities, and expectations within intimate relationships and family structures will be examined through an immersion experience featuring experiential learning, case studies, and role-playing exercises.
