Prerequisite(s): ME 3320. Basic elements of fracture mechanics, including elastic and elastic-plastic crack tip stress and strain fields, and fracture toughness. Methods for prediction of crack growth under static and fatigue loading using stress intensity factor, J integral and energy release rate, and their applications to materials assessment.
