Catalog description

This course provides Practical Nursing students with direct patient care experiences in acute and sub-acute medical-surgical settings, reinforcing second-semester nursing theory and lab content. Under the supervision of faculty and licensed preceptors, students will deliver safe, patient-centered care to adults experiencing common and complex health alterations. Emphasis is placed on applying clinical judgment, performing essential nursing interventions, prioritizing patient needs, and communicating effectively within the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Clinical experiences support development in recognizing and reporting changes in patient condition, documentation, time management, and collaboration, preparing students for transition to advanced clinical practice. Prerequisite: Officially accepted into the Practical Nursing program and following the sequence of courses. Students must maintain a grade of C or better to progress in the nursing program. Concurrent: This course is designed to be taken concurrently with NURS 1201 Medical-Surgical Theory I
