Catalog description

This course will introduce the student to the profession of teaching. It will allow students to explore and make informed decisions regarding a career in education. Students will be exposed to the process and choices necessary to become teachers; the challenges and opportunities of teaching; educational thought and history; and the organizations, control, supervision, financing, and other aspects of American education. This course is conducted in a seminar format with discussion and student presentations as the primary instructional method.In addition, this course has a required 25 hour fieldwork/observation experience in a local school district which requires a criminal history background check.
