Catalog description

This course provides comprehensive instruction in gas metal arc welding (GMAW) and flux‑cored arc welding (FCAW) techniques used in pipe fabrication. Students study pipe joint preparation and design, welding symbols, and the application of AWS, API, and ASME code requirements for pipe welding. Coursework includes setting up GMAW and FCAW equipment, cutting and assembling pipe, and interpreting metals trade blueprints. Through extensive hands‑on practice, students fabricate and weld pipe joints in all positions using both processes. The course also introduces destructive and non‑destructive testing methods to evaluate weld quality and ensure compliance with industry standards. Prerequisite: WELD 54A or WELD 54B.
