Catalog description

This course surveys the historical perspective of drug and alcohol abuse, as well as addiction’s impact on the individual, the family, community, and society. The course covers terminology used in the study of drugs, addiction and alcoholism; and explore myths, images and stereotypes of substance abuse and substance users. Students will explore causes and effects of substance abuse and addiction. Students will also analyze the effectiveness and economic impact related to addiction prevention and treatment strategies.
