Catalog description

Examines accounting requirements, practices, and issues related to international business activities and foreign operations, with a focus on the accounting issues encountered by multinational companies engaged in International trade and foreign direct investments. The course compares International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and U.S Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to enhance the development of a critical thinking approach to financial accounting and reporting. The differences in perspective, standards and national cultures across different countries and geographical areas will be reviewed to provide an understanding of the financial reports produced under IFRS and U.S. GAAP. Course offered once a year (fall or spring). Prerequisite(s): ACCT 202
