Catalog description

The purpose of this course is to provide an introduction to the wealth of theological resources available in the Catholic tradition in the area of spirituality, understood as the human response to God in prayer, action, thought, and culture. The course will provide an overview of the spiritual teachings of the great Doctors of the Church, which may include readings from Saints Paul and John, Augustine, Pseudo -Dionysius, Benedict, Bernard, Bonaventure, Aquinas, Thomas a Kempis, The Cloud of Unknowing, Julian of Norwich, Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross, Francis de Sales, Alphonsus, John Paul II, and Teresa of Calcutta. Prerequisites: THEO 105, THEO 205.
