VOCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY

Catalog description

This course introduces students to psychological theory, research, and practice in the area of vocational psychology and career counseling within the context of a Catholic understanding of vocation and work. Topics considered include career planning theory , applications and implementation, the social conditions for pursuing work, and work/life integration. In addition, students engage in human-centered design approaches to discernment and life design. The course considers the relationship of these approache s to the Catholic tradition, with special attention to the universal call to holiness, Ignatian spirituality, and the role of liberal education and leisure within the flourishing life. Prerequisites: PSYC 201, PSYC 205; or MAFS minor.
