Catalog description

This course provides an overview of the field of abnormal psychology. Emphasis is placed on the study of the history, dynamics, treatment, and types of maladaptive behavior. Content areas include clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment; anxiety and stress; mood disorders and suicide; eating disorders; sexual disorders; substance -related disorders, schizophrenia and other severe mental disorders; personality disorders; disorders of childhood and adolescence; and disorders of aging and cognition. Attent ion will be given to the integration of these content areas and the perspective of the Catholic understanding of the human person. Prerequisites: PSYC 201, PSYC 205.
