Catalog description

What is a tyrant? How and why do countries succumb to totalitarian control? In this course we seek to understand the phenomenon of tyranny and totalitarianism and its psychological and ideological roots. We will do so through an examination of the totalitarian ideologies of Communism, Fascism, and Islamic Fundamentalism, and literary depictions of totalitarian life in George Orwell, and Aldous Huxley.
