Catalog description

This course is an inquiry into the nature of beauty, art, and related phenomena. Consideration is given to aesthetic problems as reflected in literature, film, theater, and fine arts. Concepts of beauty in nature and in art, artistic creation, the aes thetic response, and art criticism are examined. Ancient, medieval, and modern authors are read. Prerequisites: PHIL 205, PHIL 206.
