HEAT TRANSFER

Catalog description

An introductory course of thermal energy transfer phenomena. Conduction, convection, and radiation heat transfer modes are presented in 1D and 2D. Plane -wall and radial systems are covered, as well as heat transfer from extended surfaces. Finite difference equations for steady state conduction and transient lumped capacitance methods are seen. Laminar and turbulent flow with boundary layer problems are solved for internal and external convective flows, together with radiation exchange between surfaces. Prerequisites: MATH 252, MECH 320.
