Catalog description

An easy introduction to the geometry and topology of knots, links, surfaces, and three -dimensional manifolds. Topics may include the shape of the universe, spaces of various dimensions, topological and geometrical equivalence, orientability, and Euler char acteristic, the classification of surfaces, products of spaces, euclidean and non -Euclidean geometries, Reidemeister moves, colorings, Alexander and Jones polynomials. Prerequisite: MATH 310 or MATH 311.
