Catalog description
This course provides students in mathematics, the sciences, and other fields with a mathematically rigorous introduction to elementary topics in statistics. Specific topics include probability and random variables, statistical inferences (estimation , testing, hypotheses, nonparametric methods, multiple regressions, variance), fundamental principles of experiment design. Both classical and Bayesian statistical methods are considered. Computer exercises will be used to illustrate the material. Prerequisite: MATH 151.
