Catalog description

This course investigates the American Revolution that led to the colonies’ independence from British dominion and the formation of a new republic from the early eighteenth to the early nineteenth centuries. This course explores the causes the Revolution; i ts social, cultural, political, religious, intellectual, racial, gender, economic, and legal contexts; the military conflicts, loyalist resistance, and diplomatic efforts during the Revolution; the formation of a new government and its detractors; and the consequences and significance of the Revolution for subsequent revolutions and modern society. Prerequisites: HIST 101 and HIST 102.
