Catalog description

This course is an intermediate survey of American history from the end of Reconstruction to the present. The major political, social, cultural, religious, economic, and legal developments of the United States will be examined. Themes covered include business and labor, the New South and the New West, urbanism, the Gilded Age, empire, Progressive Era, World War I, the Jazz Age, the Roaring Twenties, Great Depression, New Deal, World War II, Cold War, Great Society, Liberalism, Conservatism, and terrorism. Prerequisites: HIST 101 and HIST 102.
