Catalog description
This course is an intermediate survey of American history from the colonial era to the end of Reconstruction. The major political, social, cultural, religious, economic, and legal developments of the United States will be examined. Themes covered include E uropean and Native American encounters, colonial settlements, religious societies, American exceptionalism, revolution, the U.S. Constitution, republicanism, federalism, church and state, borderlands and the frontier, slavery, Civil War, and Reconstruction. Prerequisites: HIST 101 and HIST 102.
