Catalog description

This course provides an in-depth look at the biochemical pathways of insulin resistance, inflammation, and oxidative stress. Students explore research on the triggers and consequences of these underlying conditions of cardiometabolic diseases, as well as t he roles of nutrition and physical activity on primary and secondary prevention. Through an understanding of the etiology and treatment of some of the most common and costly disease-states in the U.S., this course prepares students for advanced degrees and /or certifications in the fields of healthcare, wellness, and public health. Prerequisite: BIOL 250.
