Catalog description

A health-related work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional. Emphasis is placed on clinical reasoning, caring behaviors, and evidence-based practice in the care of diverse patient populations. Clinical experiences in a variety of healthcare settings provide opportunities for the student to synthesize pediatric, and obstetric, and medical-surgical concepts. The vocational nursing roles of member of the profession, provider of patient-centered care, patient safety advocate, and member of the healthcare team are refined. The student develops leadership and management skills during the transition from student to graduate vocational nurse.
