Catalog description

Study of the care of the pediatric patient and family during health and disease. Emphasis on growth and developmental needs utilizing the nursing process and clinical judgement model. Disease processes are considered within the framework of the growth and development in health and illness of the child. There is a focus on the vocational nurse's role in the health promotion of children and families within a community. Clinical reasoning, therapeutic communication, evidence-based practice, and caring behavior are used as the basis for providing nursing care to a diverse population of children and families experiencing acute, chronic and/or terminal illnesses.
