Foundations of Nursing

Catalog description

Introduction to the nursing profession including history, standards of practice, legal and ethical issues, and role of the vocational nurse. Topics include mental health, therapeutic communication, cultural and spiritual diversity, patient preference, nursing process using clinical judgement model, and holistic awareness. Additional topics include clinical reasoning, caring behaviors, human needs, stress and adaptation, the health care system, and the vocational nurse as member of the profession, provider of patient-centered care, patient safety advocate, and member of the health care team.
