Introduction to theoretical perspectives and research pertaining to society and to the relationship between society and the individual. Covers the basic elements of society, such as culture, social structure, social groups, social class, race, gender, social institutions, social processes, and social change. Honors Intro to Sociology - For the Honors course, there will be an in-depth examination of these topics and the underlying theories, with emphasis on developing oral and written communication skills. Intro to Sociology: Global Studies - This course relates topics in SOCI 1301 to the diversity, complexity and interdependence of the world community and current global issues. It is part of ACC's Global Studies (GS) program but is open to all students and counts as a standard SOCI 1301 course. Intro to Sociology: Peace and Conflict Studies - This course relates topics in SOCI 1301 to questions of war, peace, social justice and conflict resolution. It is part of ACC's Peace and Conflict Studies (PACS) program but is open to all students and counts as a standard SOCI 1301 course.
