Topics address recently identified current events, skills, knowledges, and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to the technology or occupation and relevant to the professional development of the student. American Sign Language VII - Focuses on the use of ASL discourse in formal as well as informal settings. Students explore the genres of public speaking, artistic expression, formal discussion, interview, and narrative. Development of ASL vocabulary in specialized areas not covered in previous courses. Discourse Analysis - Theory-to-practice course in which interpreter trainees are introduced to the concept of discourse analysis as it relates to English, ASL and interpreter-mediated events providing a basic ability to analyze speakers in interaction. Transcriptions and analysis of text will enable students to understand the impact of the interpreter or interpretation on the interaction.
