Leadership and Operation Management

Catalog description

A study of leadership theory and its practical application in managing global business operations. Includes examination of leadership models, power and influence, team leadership, cross-cultural leadership, strategic styles of interaction, ethics and values, leadership skill development, evidence-based decision-making techniques, and effective goal implementation. Methods are investigated for leading the design, efficient operation, and improvement of operations and manufacturing processes which includes methods of acquiring, developing, and delivering goods and services to clients based on client needs and the abilities of the company. Topics evaluated include the design and location of facilities, staff and resource utilization, the efficient blending of the use of materials, equipment, and technology, forecasting, production scheduling, inventory control, and quality assurance with emphasis given to the role of emerging technologies. Course is only open to students admitted to the Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) in Manufacturing Engineering Technology program.
