An instructional program designed to integrate on-campus study with practical hands-on experience in psychology. In conjunction with class seminars, the individual student will set specific goals and objectives in the study of human social behavior and/or social institutions. Course may be repeated when topics vary. Transportation, insurance, and other expenses are provided by the student. Peace and Conflict Studies: Conflict Transformation and Peacebuilding Internship - This course uses a psychological lens to study theories related to conflict and peace at multiple levels-interpersonal, community, and international. Students develop skills in nonviolent conflict transformation, and actively engage in the community to deepen their understanding of these theories and practice the application of conflict resolution skills. Fifty percent of this course is conducted in the classroom (meeting once a week). As part of the course requirements, students will be connected with community organizations for service learning. Students will select from a list of off-campus organizations whose mission addresses at least one aspect of peace, justice, or conflict transformation. This course is part of ACC's Peace and Conflict Studies (PACS) program but is open to all students; it will transfer as a Psychology elective.
