Catalog description

This course examines introductory concepts of modular synthesis and visual programming (i.e.: Reaktor, Max/MSP). Students will learn how to use various software to build custom instruments (subtractive synths, sequencers, and basic audio effects), as well as receive an introduction to object-oriented programming using the open source language ChucK. Additional concepts include granular synthesis, sampling, and basic signal processing, as well as an introduction into generative and probability-based electronic composition.
